Using a vibrant green, we show you how you can create a deep and moody finish.
For this paint recipe, we walk you through how to use subtle texture to create a deep and moody feel.
This technique works well with mid-tone to darker colours. Gretels Forest has been used in this example but Olea, Deep Sapphire, Royal Navy, Cape Reinga, Tropical Lagoon, Brickyard, Sangria or Purple Sash.
What you will need:
- Gretels Forest Chalk Paint
- Carbon Black Chalk Paint
- Clear Wax
- Dark Wax
- Natural Bristle Brush
- Pro-Hybrid Round Synthetic Brush
- Optional: Forgotten Gold Gilding Wax
1 - Paint in Gretels Forest chalk paint using the round synthetic brush. Paint in large crosses to create subtle texture. Do two coats to achieve full coverage.
2 - Make a coloured wax using Carbon Black chalk paint and Clear wax, using a 1:1 ratio. Brush on with a natural bristle brush and wipe off excess with a rag.
3 - Use Dark Wax to create low lights in carved details, around handles, on the feet, etc.
4 - Optional: Detail the edges with Gold gilding wax, using either a finger or a detail brush.
