These drawers have been sold.
This 1940's set of solid wood drawers have been given a completely new lease of life!
Painted in Wild Tusk chalk paint, one of our beautiful off-whites, with the large Tropical Paradise transfer across the front and wrapping around the sides. We also painted the insides of the drawers in Starling to give them a refresh.
Technique:
We painted the whole chest of drawers in Wild Tusk Chalk Paint using our large Staalmeester pro-hybrid round brush. We kept the finish reasonably smooth on the front but allowed some texture on the sides to complement the grain of the old wood.
The inside of the drawers were painted in Starling Velvet Luxe Chalk Paint to give them a nice refresh, using our 2-inch flat brush. Velvet Luxe Chalk Paint is hardwearing and easy to apply, making it perfect to use inside of drawers.
Once we had sanded and fully cleaned the front, we then applied the Tropical Paradise transfer. This large transfer came in six sections, which we taped in place using painter's tape, while we rubbed it on, working from left to right and top to bottom.
Once the transfer was on, we used clear wax to seal the entire piece, brushed on with our natural bristle brush.
