This old blanket box came to us a bit worse for wear with a few marks already in the wood, so we knew a rustic transformation was needed. Using Saltwash to create an even more rustic and textured finish, we were able to transform this piece in a rustic but pretty way.
The blanket box is now perfect for any room, and we can really imagine it in a child's bedroom or playroom. With a playful pop of colour and with the rustic finish there's no need to be too precious as it will only get better with age!
Technique:
For this old blanket box, we started with a base of Starling chalk paint, our darkest green, and mixed it with Saltwash to create a rustic and textured finish. We did two coats using our Pro-Hybrid round brush.
We then painted one coat of Wild Tusk, using our round brush, allowing the texture and green to show through. We then applied the new Peaceful Poppies A1 Mint transfer to the front and sides, with a few butterflies on top.
Finally we sealed with clear wax, brushing on with the Natural Bristle Brush and wiping the excess off using Lint-Free Rags. We left the inside as is, and we love the contrast and the rustic feel this blanket box has!
