We have been dreaming of warmer weather and have been inspired by Tuscany this week, transforming this solid wood round occasional table into a rustic, layered finish that we can imagine sitting in a Tuscan villa.
Creating texture and age using just three paint colours, we love this soft and romantic finish.
Technique:
Painted in a base of Wild Tusk chalk paint using our round brush. Painting for decent coverage and texture.
We then added spots of Old Espresso with our round brush to the edges and areas where the paint would naturally wear back with time.
We then painted a top coat of Burmese chalk paint. Again with our round brush and painting for texture.
We sanded with 240grit sandpaper so we could see the base colours coming through and then added more Burmese to some areas that were over sanded.
We then dry brushed Old Espresso, Wild Tusk and a touch of Burmese using our angled brush to create more age and patina.
Once we were happy with the finish, we sealed all over with Clear wax and wiped the excess off with a lint-free rag.
