Soft & Subtle Texture with Depth Paint Recipe
This is a lovely soft and subtle textured finish that adds depth to a simple piece.
For this paint recipe, we walk you through how to create a soft and subtle textured finish.
This technique works well with the soft colours. Try Pebble on the base with Fresco coloured wax; or, Verdant on the base with Stonebreaker coloured wax.
What you will need:
- Yorkshire Stone Chalk Paint
- Fresco Chalk Paint
- Clear Wax
- Natural Bristle Brush
- Pro-Hybrid Synthetic Brush
- Optional: Gold or Silver Gilding Wax
1 - Paint in Yorkshire Stone chalk paint using the round synthetic brush. Add 5% water and paint in large crosses to create subtle texture.
2 - Add 7-10% water to the paint for the second coat and paint to achieve full coverage.
3 - Make a coloured wax using Fresco chalk paint and Clear wax, using a 1:1 ratio. Brush on with a natural bristle brush and wipe off excess with a rag.
4 - Optional: Detail the edges with Gold or Silver gilding wax, using either a finger or a detail brush.
