We used two different techniques using Saltwash and premium chalk paint to give these chairs a rustic and weathered finish.
Technique:
For The Duck Egg Chair: first we painted in Clubhouse grey chalk paint mixed with Saltwash, we painted one coverage with lots of texture and for good coverage. We then did a second coat of Wild Tusk chalk paint with Saltwash, again we painted with lots of texture but this time we didn't fully cover the grey. For the top coat we painted with straight Duck Egg chalk paint, again we didn't paint for full coverage, allowing the other colours to show through. We then gave a light sand and sealed with clear wax.
For The Wild Tusk Chair: first we painted in Burmese mixed with Saltwash for a very thick and textured finish, we applied using a brush and a palette knife for full coverage. We then painted a coat of Wild Tusk chalk paint, we didn't paint for full coverage and instead allowed plenty of Burmese to show through. We then sanded in areas to show the Burmese and natural wood underneath. Lastly we sealed with clear wax.
