This is a light and airy paint recipe using neutrals.

For this paint recipe, we walk you through how to create a lovely light and airy finish using neutrals to create a restful feel.

This technique works best with the off-whites and pale greys. Try using Champagne Waltz as the base with layers of Stonebreaker and Pearl coloured waxes; or, use Tower Bridge as the base with layers of Cloudburst ans Champagne Waltz coloured waxes.

What you will need:

  • Chrysler Chalk Paint
  • Cloudburst Chalk Paint
  • Champagne Waltz Chalk Paint
  • Clear Wax
  • Natural Bristle Brush
  • Pro-Hybrid Synthetic Brush
  •  Silver Gilding Wax

1 - Paint in Chrysler chalk paint using the round synthetic brush. Paint in large crosses to create subtle texture.

2 - Add 5% water to the paint for the second coat and paint to achieve full coverage.

3 - Create a coloured wax using Cloudburst chalk paint and Clear wax, using a 1:1 ratio. Brush the wax on using a natural bristle brush and wipe the excess off with a rag.

4 - Make a coloured wax using Dove chalk paint and Clear wax, using a 1:1 ratio. Brush on with a natural bristle brush and wipe off excess with a rag.

5 - Repeat the above step using Champagne Waltz to create the coloured wax.

6 - Detail the edges with Silver gilding wax, use either a finger or a detail brush.
