This industrial look is a great way to create a moody and edgy feel.

For this paint recipe, we walk you through how to create a moody and edgy industrial look using grey and black.

This technique works best with the greys. For a lighter finish try Dove as a base with CLoudburst wax; or, for a really dark finish try Midnight for the base with Victorian Black wax.

What you will need:

  • Cloudburst Chalk Paint
  • Victorian Black Chalk Paint
  • Clear Wax
  • Silver Gilding Wax
  • Natural Bristle Brush
  • Pro-Hybrid Synthetic Brush

1 - Paint in Cloudburst chalk paint using the round synthetic brush. Paint in all directions to create plenty of texture.

2 - Add 5% water to the paint for the second coat and paint to achieve full coverage.

3 - Make a coloured wax using Victorian Black chalk paint and Clear wax, using a 1:1 ratio. Brush on with a natural bristle brush and wipe off excess with a rag.

4 - To create highlights, pull back the coloured wax using fine (0000 grade) steel wool.

5 - Detail the edges with Silver gilding wax, use either a finger or a detail brush.
