This is a wonderfully deep coastal blue finish.
For this paint recipe, we walk you through how to create a deep coastal finish using Vintro's blues.
This technique works well with all blues, try Morocco as the base with layers of Teal and Nightfall coloured waxes.
Please note: that the original recipe will give you a lighter finish. Try using French Navy as the base with Christabelle and Victorian Black coloured waxes to achieve a look closer to the photo.
What you will need:
- Christabelle Chalk Paint
- French Navy Chalk Paint
- Victorian Black Chalk Paint
- Clear Wax
- Natural Bristle Brush
- Pro-Hybrid Synthetic Brush
- Optional: Gold Gilding Wax
1 - Paint in Christabelle chalk paint using the round synthetic brush. Paint in all directions to achieve texture.
2 - Add 5% water to the paint for the second coat and paint to achieve full coverage.
3 - Make a coloured wax using French Navy chalk paint and Clear wax, using a 1:1 ratio. Brush on with a natural bristle brush and wipe off excess with a rag.
4 - Repeat the above step using Victorian Black chalk paint. Brush on to create lowlights and shadows, wipe off excess with a rag
Tip: You don't need to brush the Victorian Black wax over the entire piece, instead use it in areas to create shadows and depth.
5 - Optional: Detail the edges with Gold gilding wax, use either a finger or a detail brush.
