A soft and moody coastal blues recipe. The perfect way to bring the coastal feel into your home.
For this paint recipe, we walk you through how to create a soft and subtle textured finish.
You could also try this paint recipe using a more textured rustic finish. Use the natural bristle brush when painting to create lots of texture and then continue with the same coloured waxes.
What you will need:
-
Stormy Creek Chalk Paint
-
Hokitika Gorge Chalk Paint
- Carbon Black Chalk Paint
- Clear Wax
- Dark Wax
- Natural Bristle Brush
- Pro-Hybrid Round Synthetic Brush
- Super Fine Steel Wool
- Optional: Silver Gilding Wax
1 - Paint in Stormy Creek chalk paint using the round synthetic brush. Paint in large crosses to create subtle texture. Do two coats to achieve full coverage.
2 - Use a small amount of Dark wax to seal your paint finish. Brush right out with your natural bristle for a thin layer and wipe off any excess with a rag.
3 - Make a coloured wax using Hokitika Gorge chalk paint and Clear wax, using a 1:1 ratio. Using your natural bristle brush, brush on in areas you wish to highlight and gently wipe excess off with a clean rag.
4 - Make a coloured wax using Carbon Black chalk paint and Clear wax, using a 1:1 ratio. Pick up a small amount on your natural bristle brush and brush out in the corners and details to create shadows and depth. Wipe any excess off with a lint free rag and use fine steel wool to blend if neccesary.
5 - Optional: Detail the edges with Silver gilding wax, using either a finger or a detail brush.
