This classic French finish has subtle age and texture.
For this paint recipe, we walk you through how to create a classic French finish with chalk paint.
This technique works really well with the pale, classic French colours. This includes whites and off-whites, pale blues, greens, greys and pinks.
What you will need:
- Crystal Chalk Paint
- Stonebreaker Chalk Paint
- Clear Wax
- Metallic Gold Paint
- Natural Bristle Brush
- Pro-Hybrid Synthetic Brush
1 - Paint in Crystal chalk paint using the round synthetic brush. Add 5% water and paint in large crosses to create subtle texture.
2 - Add 7-10% water to the paint for the second coat, paint to achieve full coverage.
3 - Make a coloured wax using Stonebreaker chalk paint and Clear wax, using a 1:1 ratio. Brush on with a natural bristle brush and wipe off excess with a rag.
4 - To create highlights, pull back the coloured wax using fine (0000 grade) steel wool or use Clear wax.
