Commission - Carbon Black with Satin Lacquer Small Side Table

We refinished this small side table that had sentimental value for our customer using Carbon Black premium chalk paint and Satin lacquer.

A practical small side table with sentimental value, the original wood finish was damaged and no longer worked for our customer. We decided on a simple black finish so that it would fade into the background of the room, with a Satin lacquer finish for a bit of contemporary sheen.

Technique:

We rolled two thin coats of Carbon Black to get a solid and even finish, using our angled detail brush to cut in.

We then hand brushed two coats of tinted Satin lacquer using a flat brush. We tinted our Satin lacquer with half a teaspoon of Carbon Black chalk paint to stop it from going milky over such a dark surface.
