This stunning dresser has been given a complete makeover with premium chalk paint and two layers of wax.
Bach Blue is a beautifully soft grey-blue, which has been complemented perfectly with layers of dark wax and Imperial Linen wax. Giving this old dresser and mirror a new lease on life.
Painted in Bach Blue chalk paint using our Staalmeester pro-hybrid brush painting in all directions. We painted two coats for full coverage.
Once we had full coverage, we mixed dark and clear wax together in a 60:40 mix, we did this to lighten the dark wax as we wanted lots of the Bach Blue to come through. Brushing the wax on with our natural bristle brush, we wiped off the excess with a rag. Once completed we took some of the dark wax away with our fine-grade steel wool, mostly on the top, sides and main panels of the drawers.
We then made a coloured wax using Imperial Linen chalk paint and clear wax. We did about a 1:1 mix of wax to paint. This was brushed on over the dark wax and the excess was taken off with a rag. This second layer really changed the look again and brought out more of the blue from the Bach Blue base.
To finish we used some of our gilding wax in silver to highlight the edges of the drawers, the knobs and the mirror. We did this quite subtly but it brought the whole piece together.
This was originally painted in Vintro paints but we have updated the colours below for The Artisan Company premium paint range.
