Create a special piece using this metallic French elegance technique!
For this paint recipe, we walk you through how to use the metallic glazes to create a wonderfully elegant finish.
In this recipe we've used Imperial Linen but Calicut and Parisian Grey would also work well.
What you will need:
- Imperial Linen Chalk Paint
-
Luna Lustre Glaze
- Finely Gold Glaze
-
Dark Wax
- Natural Bristle Brush
- Pro-Hybrid Round Synthetic Brush
- Spalter Brush
- Optional: Forgotten Gold, Silver or Vienna Champagne Gilding Wax
1 - Paint in Imperial Linen chalk paint using the round synthetic brush. Paint in large crosses to create subtle texture. Do two coats to achieve full coverage.
2 - Use your spalter brush and paint one coat of Luna Lustre glaze all over your piece.
3 - In sections paint the Finley Gold glaze on using your spalter brush. Use a clean rag to 'rag' it back. This will stop it from looking streaky and instead will add another dimension to your metallic finish.
4 - Detail with Dark Wax using your natural bristle brush and wiping off the excess with a clean rag. Use the dark wax to create lowlights, focusing on carved details, feet, handles etc.
5 - Optional: Detail the edges with Gold or Silver gilding wax, using either a finger or a detail brush.
