This side table is no longer available.
This side table has been given a makeover with a textured gold top and matte black base.
Using sawdust to create the texture, it has given a finely textured finish that is still flat and can be used for a vase or mug with no worries of it being unbalanced.
Technique:
We refreshed the entire side table with Carbon Black Chalk Paint.
On the top we created lots of texture with the chalk paint and then added a layer of sawdust. Once the paint was dry we added another thin layer of Carbon Black to the sawdust on the top for full coverage. This was messy so we made sure to decant our paint so as not to contaminate the rest of the can.
Once dry, we used Champagne Gold metallic creme and brushed this on in all directions. We covered most of the black but didn't go for full coverage.
We then sealed the entire piece in Dark wax and wiped the excess wax away carefully from the textured top, and finished with gold gilding wax to highlight the edges.
