This beautifully carved, solid wood round table has been painted in a French Country style. Painted in Dusty Millar, a very pale blue-green, with the finely carved details highlighted in silver and finished with dark wax, this round side table would look stunning in an entrance hall, library or living room. The perfect size to display a collection of special items or flowers.
Technique:
Painted in Dusty Millar using the Staalmeester brush, the top was painted in all directions to add texture. After the first coat there were a few bleed through marks which we spot sealed with Lacquer. We then continued painting for full coverage.
Once dry, we used a small artist brush to dry-brush the Silver Metallic Creme onto the detailing. To dry-brush, dip your brush into the paint and then dab it on a paper towel so that there's a minimal amount of paint on the brush and then lightly brush it on, you will see the paint underneath showing through and you can build up the layers until you're happy.
We then sealed the entire table with Dark Wax using our wax brush and lint-free rags. We used steel wool to pull the wax back where we wanted it lighter and on the top we also used Clear Wax to pull it back even further. Once finished we dry-brushed a bit more of the Silver Metallic Creme to really highlight some of the detailing.
