Commission - Burmese Chest with White & Dark Wax - Not For Sale
This chest was painted for one of our lovely customers. If you would like us to paint a piece for you, please get in touch as we would love to help.
This chest was a sentimental piece for our customer but the red tones no longer worked in her new home.
We updated the chest using a base of Burmese, a wonderful cream, and then added layers of white and dark waxes to emphasise the details and grain of the wood.
Technique:
First we painted all over in Burmese premium chalk paint using our angled and round brushes. We painted two coats for full coverage, making sure to go in the direction of the wood grain. We painted over some of the metal detailing while leaving key details, like the oversized hinges, unpainted.
We then made a Crisp White coloured wax using equal parts Crisp White chalk paint and Clear wax. We brushed this on all over using our natural bristle brush and wiping excess off with our lint-free rag.
We then used Dark wax to create shadows, applying it around the metal detailing and handles. We applied this with a small brush and wiped any excess back with our lint-free rag.
