This solid cupboard was used in our Mt Eden workshop space and was covered in paint and dings. We decided to give it a complete makeover and were inspired by the 80's and decided to try something different.
With layers of colour under the Carbon Black, this cupboard reminds us of 80's pastel pop-art drawings.
Technique:
We taped off triangles and painted the base in multiple colours of chalk paint, making sure to create texture. We then applied a thin, watered-down coat of Carbon Black chalk paint to the entire piece.
Using our 240-grit sandpaper, we lightly sanded so that pops of colour came through the black. We then sealed the whole piece with clear wax and added some 'bling' using gold gilding wax.
