This pair of Queen Anne style bedsides have been given a modern makeover with Carbon Black on the base and a faux wood effect on the tops.
We love the contrast between the deep black and the rustic faux wood!
Technique:
The bases were painted in Carbon Black chalk paint using the round brush for very subtle texture. They were then sealed with Dark wax for a warm finish.
The tops were painted in a base of Tahr chalk paint. We painted with our natural bristle brush for lots of texture, pulling the paint in one direction to create the feel off knotted wood.
Once we had full coverage we sealed with Dark wax all over. We then used layers of Potters Clay coloured wax, Crisp White coloured wax and Tahr coloured wax, brushing in one direction and wiping the excess off with a clean lint-free rag. For the coloured waxes we used a mix of our natural bristle brush and our spalter brush to achieve different finishes and textures.
