A textured and distressed rustic finish with a touch of luxe.

For this paint recipe, we walk you through how to achieve a rustic and distressed finish that is finished with gold to add a touch of glam.

This technique looks fabulous with Pebble and Victorian Black but you can use any colour combination that would work in your home. Using contrasting colours, eg. Old Lace as a base with Duck Egg on top; or keeping your colours in the same family, eg. using two of our blues, Aurora as a base with French Navy on top.

What you will need:

  • Pebble Chalk Paint
  • Victorian Black Chalk Paint
  • 240 Grit Sandpaper
  • Dark Wax
  • Gold Gilding Wax
  • Natural Bristle Brush
  • Pr-Hybrid Synthetic Brush

1 - Paint in Pebble using the natural bristle brush. Paint in all directions to create as much texture as possible. When the paint is half dry you can go back with your brush to create even more texture. Make sure you have full coverage.

2 - Add 10-15% water to Victorian Black and paint a thin coat using the synthetic brush. It doesn't matter if you don't have full coverage.

3 - Sand back using 240 grit sandpaper to create a distressed finish.

4 - Seal with Dark wax using the natural bristle brush, wipe off excess wax with a lint-free rag.

5 - Detail the edges with Gold gilding wax, using your fingers or a detail brush.
